The Ford Torino was part of the lineup in the late 1960s, but the model really came into its own in the 1970s. Depending on the model year, buyers could get the Torino in a huge variety of body styles, including a two-door hardtop, fastback, convertible, four-door sedan, and wagon. The TV cop show Starsky & Hutch immortalized a red coupe with a white stripe. 

Ford could revive the name for its new SUV and play up the moniker's sportier side to lend a performance aspect to the EV.
