The fullsize sedan segment is dying, and if you want proof as to why, just look at the Toyota Avalon. Nothing about this completely new car looks or feels like it advances the segment. It uses a familiar powertrain, looks like a bloated Camry, and offers nothing to set it apart from other big cars like the Chevy Impala or Kia Cadenza.
In fact, the Avalon just goes to show how far behind Toyota is in a lot of key areas. On the tech front, the Avalon is the first Toyota product to finally get Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto is still unavailable. Yes, there’s Amazon Alexa integration, but we’re willing to bet more people would use Android Auto than any Amazon tech. All in, the Avalon simply remains a snoozefest.
